smart Malaysia has made a major splash at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025 with the debut of the all-new smart #5 SUV and the launch of bookings for the limited-run smart #1 BRABUS Edition. The event, organised by the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), sets the stage for smart’s bold expansion in the local EV market.
Taking centre stage is the smart #5 — a premium mid-size electric SUV designed for all-terrain adventure and everyday luxury. Making its first public appearance in Malaysia, the SUV features a rugged yet sophisticated design, intelligent tech, and a spacious interior with comfort-focused touches like a “king-size” in-car suite mode and 34 storage compartments.
Notable highlights include a 100kWh battery offering up to 590km range (WLTP), 800V fast-charging (10–80% in 15 minutes), off-road driving modes, and an AI-powered interface supported by Unreal Engine and Sennheiser audio.
Alongside the SUV reveal, smart also began accepting bookings for the smart #1 BRABUS Limited Edition — a performance-focused EV co-developed with BRABUS Kuala Lumpur. This model features a sportier design, lowered ride height, distinctive 19-inch wheels, and premium interior enhancements with BRABUS-red accents. Pricing will be announced by June 2025.
Visitors booking any smart model during the show will enjoy perks such as early access test drives, a complimentary BRABUS bodykit upgrade on selected bookings, a 10% cash rebate, and four years of free service for smart #1 and smart #3 models.
