PRO-NET, the distributor of Proton e.MAS and smart Malaysia vehicles, has officially handed over a fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) in support of the government’s Low Carbon Mobility Blueprint (LCMB) 2021–2030.

The initiative underlines PRO-NET’s role in promoting sustainable transportation and Malaysia’s goal of achieving 15% electrified vehicle adoption by 2030.

The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Transport headquarters in Putrajaya and was attended by Transport Minister YB Anthony Loke, senior MOT officials, and representatives from PRO-NET. The programme also saw the participation of other automotive brands, making it a collaborative effort towards accelerating EV adoption in the public sector.

In addition to the vehicle handover, the event incorporated several official activities, including the launch of MOT’s National Month celebrations, the 33rd anniversary of Perbadanan Aset Keretapi (RAC), and the ministry’s “Kibar Jalur Gemilang” campaign. These activities reinforced the government’s ongoing efforts to promote national unity while advancing environmental sustainability.

The fleet delivered by PRO-NET includes Malaysia’s best-selling EV, the Proton e.MAS 7, along with the smart #1 and smart #3. By providing these vehicles for government use, PRO-NET enables agencies to directly evaluate EV performance, driving range, and usability.

This hands-on experience is expected to help decision-makers better understand both the benefits and challenges of EV adoption, supporting the formulation of practical policies, charging infrastructure planning, and long-term strategies for nationwide EV growth.

Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET, highlighted the significance of the collaboration, stating: “This initiative demonstrates our commitment to Malaysia’s transition towards sustainable mobility. Giving government agencies the opportunity to experience Proton e.MAS and smart vehicles allows for a deeper understanding of EV readiness and the direction the country needs to take in building a low-carbon future.”

The handover reflects PRO-NET’s broader mission of supporting Malaysia’s shift to green transportation. Beyond supplying vehicles, the company has been actively engaged in efforts to expand EV awareness, encourage adoption, and work alongside policymakers to ensure that the transition benefits consumers and industry stakeholders alike.

With the government setting clear targets under the LCMB, collaborations between public agencies and industry players like PRO-NET are viewed as essential in accelerating EV acceptance. The Ministry of Transport’s adoption of EVs serves as both a symbolic and practical step towards reducing transport-related carbon emissions and preparing Malaysia for a more sustainable mobility landscape.
