Proton has officially expanded into its third international market with the launch of its first electric vehicle (EV), the Proton e.MAS 7, in Singapore earlier this week. The debut is particularly meaningful, as it also marks the brand’s return to the city-state after an absence of 11 years.
The launch was attended by top executives from both Proton and its Singapore partner, VINCAR Group. Among the guests were Proton CEO Dr. Li Chunrong, VINCAR CEO Vincent Tan, as well as senior leaders from PROTON, PRO-NET, and Proton International Corporation. Representatives from the Malaysian High Commission in Singapore and members of the media also witnessed the event.
The event symbolised not only the introduction of a new model but also the beginning of a partnership between Proton and VINCAR. With Proton providing technology and brand heritage, and VINCAR offering strong local market expertise, the collaboration is set to provide customers in Singapore with greater accessibility and support.
Since its introduction in Malaysia, the Proton e.MAS 7 has quickly risen to the top of the EV market. Nearly 6,000 units were delivered in the first eight months of 2025 alone, securing a 24% share of the local EV segment — the highest for a single model.
The e.MAS 7 is positioned as a stylish, high-performing, and safe EV. With a segment-leading ASEAN NCAP score of 92.57 points, it holds the highest safety rating in its class. Customers also benefit from Proton’s extensive network of 3S/4S outlets, which adds peace of mind for new EV adopters.
In Singapore, the Proton e.MAS 7 will be available in two trims — Prime and Premium — with six exterior colours: Platinum Silver, Lithium White, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, and Obsidian Black. Buyers can also choose between Indigo Blue or Alabaster White interior finishes.
To celebrate its entry into Singapore, Proton is introducing a Founders Edition package for the first 99 customers. This includes a 10-year unlimited-mileage battery warranty, five years of free cross-border data roaming, and roadside assistance coverage in both Singapore and Peninsular Malaysia. This means owners can have their cars towed to a Proton service centre in Malaysia if needed.
The Proton e.MAS 7 is priced at SGD175,988 (approx. MYR612,000) for the Prime variant and SGD179,988 (approx. MYR626,000) for the Premium, inclusive of COE. These launch prices are applicable for the first 99 units sold.
With the upcoming roll-out of Malaysia’s National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) to ease travel between Johor Bahru and Singapore, Proton believes cross-border mobility will further enhance ownership convenience for Singaporean buyers.
Looking ahead, Proton plans to expand its lineup in Singapore with more New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), strengthening its presence in the market and meeting the growing demand for sustainable mobility.
