Proton New Energy Technology Sdn Bhd (PRO-NET), a wholly owned subsidiary of Proton, has announced that the newly introduced Proton e.MAS 5 has garnered an impressive 1,607 bookings within the first 24 hours of its order books opening on 4 October 2025.
The strong response followed a nationwide livestream event to mark the model’s “Open for Booking” campaign, held at Proton e.MAS Nilai. The event introduced Malaysians to the e.MAS 5 — the country’s first truly affordable electric vehicle (EV).
“We are humbled by the overwhelming support Malaysians have shown for the Proton e.MAS 5,” said Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer of PRO-NET. “Our goal has always been to make electric mobility accessible to everyone, and the e.MAS 5 represents a major step in making that vision a reality. The livestream was broadcast simultaneously across eight TikTok pages and one Facebook page, including Proton e.MAS’ official platforms and popular automotive partners such as Nazz & Co and SoyaCincau. The event attracted around 572,000 live viewers and has since surpassed one million total views, with engagement continuing to climb.
With an estimated price range between RM60,000 and RM80,000, the Proton e.MAS 5 positions itself as Malaysia’s most affordable EV. Despite its compact B-segment size, the model offers C-segment interior space, delivering a blend of everyday practicality and comfort.
It also features a tight turning radius, rear-wheel-drive setup, and real-time charging status display — combining urban agility with the dynamic feel of a larger vehicle.
Customers can now book the Proton e.MAS 5 via the official Proton e.MAS website or at any of the 43 authorised Proton e.MAS dealerships nationwide. A booking fee of just RM99 secures an order, along with exclusive early bird benefits including:
