PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) announced that traffic on the North South Expressway is expected to increase between 1.1 million to 1.3 million vehicles daily when inter-state travel resumes after the announcement by the Government.
PLUS expects many Klang Valley residents as well as those from other states will seize this opportunity to travel for that long-awaited occasion to be with families and close friends.
“PLUS highways are well prepared for the reopening of interstate travel and all its 94 toll plazas across the northern and southern regions are ready for the influx vehicles once the restriction for interstate travel is lifted,” confirms Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi, Chief Operating Officer PLUS Malaysia Bhd.
“We are indeed encouraged that over 90% of our adult population has been fully vaccinated and are now able to travel on our highway but are mindful of the Covid-19 SOPs. We encourage them to take a break after a two-hour drive at our R&Rs and Lay-Bys to rejuvenate and relax.”
“While countering their travel fatigue, please continue to diligently follow the MKN SOPs of checking your MySejahtera, wearing proper face masks, physical distancing, and hand sanitizing, as these still applies along our highways.” added Datuk Zakaria.
PLUS also said that PLUSRonda, highway safety, maintenance crew, as well as customer service personnel along the entire 1,130 km long-stretch is ready to face the surge in traffic once state borders open fully.
It is said that all public facilities at PLUS’ 29 R&Rs and 50 laybys are regularly sanitized under a regimented cleaning schedule and is a long-standing commitment ensuring that cleanliness is maintained as facilities such as suraus and washrooms are open 24 hours a day.
