The Revuelto is Lamborghini first-ever production plug-in hybrid
In conjunction with its 60th-anniversary, Automobili Lamborghini announced the launch of the brand’s first production PHEV, the Lamborghini Revuelto today in Malaysia.
Although the price of the Revuelto was not officially announced, sources revealed that it starts from RM2.5 million before taxes and options.
Here to succeed the Aventador, the new Lamborghini Revuelto is powered by a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 mid-mounted engine that is complemented by three electric motors, one of which is integrated into the new double-clutch eight-speed gearbox.
While the motor is mounted transversely and placed for the first time behind the combustion engine, in what has been the transmission tunnel since the days of the Countach, there is a lithium-ion battery instead, which powers the electric motors.
The electric motors boost power delivery at low revs and can also turn the new Revuelto into a purely electric car, reducing overall CO2 emissions by 30% compared to the Aventador Ultimae.
The new L545 engine which has a capacity of 6.5 liters is the lightest and most powerful 12-cylinder engine ever made by Lamborghini. In total it weighs just 218 kg (17 kg less than the Aventador’s unit). In terms of output, the engine itself makes 825 PS at 9,250 rpm and 725 Nm of torque. Combined with the 350 Nm from each of the front electric motors, the combined maximum output is rated at 1,015 PS.
All that power is sent to both the front and rear wheels via a new eight-speed double-clutch gearbox, and an electric AWD system that enable the Revuelto to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in only 2.5 seconds, 0-200 km/h in less than 7 seconds, and achieve a top speed of more than 350 km/h.
Further complementing the powertrain package are features like electric torque vectoring, and the four-wheel drive which is also available fully-electric drive mode.
Speaking of driving modes, the Revuelto offers three main driving modes called Recharge, Hybrid and Performance, which can be combined with either Citta (City), Strada, Sport, or Corsa modes that bring the total number of mode combinations to 12 – all of which are driver-selectable via two rotary selectors on the new-design steering wheel.
On the exterior, carbon fiber is the principal structural element within the new car, used not only in the monofuselage and frame but also in all elements of the bodywork apart from the doors and bumpers. The extensive use of carbon fiber and lightweight materials, combined with the potent engine power, contributes to achieving the best weight-to-power ratio in the history of Lamborghini: 1,75 kg/PS.
As for the tyres, the Revuelto comes fitted with bespoke Bridgestone Potenza Sport tyres in a mixed fitment with 265/35 ZRF20 on the front axle and 345/30 ZRF21 on the rear axle, as well as with 265/30 ZRF21 on the front and 355/25 ZRF22 on the rear, both featuring run-flat technology.
Inside the cabin, The Revuelto offers a completely new Human Machine Interface (HMI) system consisting of three displays – a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 8.4-inch central display, and a 9.1-inch display featuring a fresh look and feel, with 3D graphics, animations, widgets and styling. There is also a new steering wheel design, leather upholstery, Alexa connectivity, a built-in navigation system.
Last but not least, the list of ADAS systems include Active Lane Departure Warning (ALDW), Lane Change Warning (LCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), as well as Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
