GWM Malaysia has officially opened bookings for the all-new GWM ORA 5 HEV, giving buyers another hybrid option in Malaysia’s increasingly competitive compact SUV segment.
Previewed locally earlier this year, the ORA 5 HEV is expected to be priced at around RM115,000, although GWM says the final selling price will only be confirmed at its official launch in November 2026.
The ORA 5 HEV stands out with GWM’s Hi2 intelligent hybrid technology, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor. The hybrid powertrain produces a combined 223 PS and 476 Nm, while claimed fuel consumption is rated at as low as 4.4 litres per 100 km.

One of its key selling points is its claimed driving range of more than 1,100 km, allowing owners to cover longer distances without needing to plug in or make frequent refuelling stops.
GWM positions the ORA 5 HEV as a compact SUV aimed at buyers who want the benefits of electrification but still prefer the convenience of a conventional refuelling experience.
According to GWM Malaysia Managing Director of Commercial Operations Stan Li, the ORA 5 HEV is intended to combine distinctive styling, performance and efficiency in a package suited to everyday Malaysian driving.

GWM Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Roslan Abdullah added that the model forms part of the company’s broader strategy to offer customers different electrified powertrain options, spanning hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
For now, GWM has not released the ORA 5 HEV’s complete Malaysian specifications or final pricing. Bookings are currently open at all authorised GWM dealerships nationwide, with the official launch scheduled for November 2026.

With an estimated price of RM115,000, 223 PS, 476 Nm and a claimed range exceeding 1,100 km, the ORA 5 HEV could be an interesting proposition in Malaysia’s compact hybrid SUV market.
