Foton Debuts Malaysia’s First Chinese AMT Light Truck

Foton Aumark S Euro 5

Angka-Tan Motor (ATM) has introduced the new Foton Aumark S Euro 5 AMT at the Malaysia Commercial Vehicle Expo 2026 (MCVE 2026), marking a significant step forward for the local commercial vehicle industry.

The biggest talking point is the transmission. The Aumark S becomes the first Chinese-brand light-duty truck in Malaysia to feature an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), bringing easier drivability and improved efficiency to urban delivery operations.

Priced at RM128,800, the new truck is aimed squarely at businesses handling high-frequency city deliveries, where stop-start traffic and long working hours are part of daily operations.

By combining an AMT gearbox with a Euro 5-compliant diesel engine, Foton is targeting fleet operators looking to reduce driver fatigue, improve fuel economy, and lower running costs.

Powering the Aumark S is a 3.8-litre Cummins ISF four-cylinder turbo diesel engine producing 154 PS and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed ZF AMT gearbox that promises smoother gear changes and easier operation compared to conventional manual trucks.

The introduction of AMT technology is particularly relevant as logistics companies continue to face growing demand for faster and more efficient last-mile deliveries. Easier-to-drive trucks also allow operators to widen their recruitment pool, including drivers with less experience operating manual commercial vehicles.

Beyond efficiency, the new Aumark S has been engineered with practicality in mind. Measuring 6,930 mm long with a 3,800 mm wheelbase, the truck supports gross vehicle weights ranging from 7,500 kg to 9,900 kg, making it suitable for a wide range of logistics and transport duties.

Safety equipment includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Anti-Slip Regulation, and Hill Start Assist, helping drivers maintain better control in heavy traffic and challenging road conditions. Foton also says the cab structure complies with ECE R29 safety standards, while the truck itself has undergone more than three million kilometres of durability testing.

The launch of the Aumark S Euro 5 AMT also strengthens Foton’s growing commercial vehicle lineup in Malaysia. It joins the heavier-duty Foton Auman R Euro 5 AMT introduced previously, giving the brand a more comprehensive AMT-equipped portfolio covering both urban and long-haul operations.

At the same time, ATM continues to expand into electrified commercial mobility with the fully-electric Foton eAumark, while the Foton Bus lineup broadens its presence in the people-mover segment.

According to James Tan, Chief Executive Officer of Warisan TC Holdings Berhad, the latest launch reflects the company’s push to deliver more practical and business-focused transport solutions for Malaysian operators.

The debut of the new truck also coincides with Angka-Tan Motor’s 15th anniversary as Foton’s distributor in Malaysia, highlighting the company’s long-term ambitions in the local commercial vehicle market.

To strengthen ownership support, all new Foton trucks are backed by a six-year or 300,000 km warranty. Customers also gain access to the Foton Total Care programme, nationwide aftersales support under the Tan Chong Group network, driver training programmes, emergency assistance services, and fleet maintenance packages through TC Trust.
