Chery Malaysia has introduced its latest electrification platform, the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH), as the company prepares to expand its plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) offerings in Malaysia.
The new CSH system is the culmination of over two decades of research and development in hybrid technologies by Chery. It combines a 1.5L turbocharged dedicated hybrid engine with a high-efficiency electric motor, delivering a total system output of 255 kW and 525 Nm of torque. The internal combustion engine alone achieves 44.5% thermal efficiency, one of the highest in the segment.

Chery Malaysia Vice President Michael Chew said the platform is designed to meet Malaysian drivers’ needs for flexibility, performance, and efficiency in various driving conditions.
Two new PHEV models—TIGGO 7 PHEV CSH and TIGGO 8 PHEV CSH—were previewed at the launch. These models are expected to formally enter the Malaysian market soon, following the earlier introduction of the TIGGO Cross Hybrid CSH on 9 July.

Key Features of the CSH Platform:
- Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT): A stepless transmission system with 98.5% mechanical efficiency for seamless energy transitions.
- Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery: IP68-certified for water and dust resistance, operable in temperatures up to 95°C, and supports 30–80% fast charging in 20 minutes.
- Battery Protection System: Multi-layer safeguards for durability during both city and long-distance use.
- Range: Claimed combined driving range of up to 1,200 km.
- Smart Energy Management: Automatic switching between electric and hybrid modes to reduce emissions and maximise fuel savings.

Global Battery Safety Testing
Chery is conducting a series of global safety validation tests for the CSH battery system through its “Global Safety Challenge.”
- In China, vehicles underwent crash tests, a 4.9m drop, 720-hour salt spray exposure, and a 7-car stack to assess structural integrity.
- In Indonesia, the battery was submerged in seawater for over 53 hours to evaluate flood resilience, after which it was reinstalled and driven.
- In the next phase in Mexico, the TIGGO 7 PHEV CSH will be subjected to underbody scraping tests on mountainous terrain to assess durability at high altitudes.

Additional test phases are planned in South Africa and Brazil, focusing on performance in harsh and varied environments.
With the introduction of CSH technology and its upcoming PHEV models, Chery Malaysia is positioning itself to offer a full range of electrified vehicles in the local market—from petrol to hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric models.
