TC Subaru Sdn Bhd has officially introduced the all-new Subaru Forester 2.5 in Malaysia, the latest addition to the brand’s SUV lineup and the first under the new Japan Premium Line.
Positioned as a robust and practical SUV, the Forester 2.5 combines a more powerful engine with Subaru’s hallmark Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (SAWD), advanced safety systems, and enhanced comfort features.

The new Forester 2.5 is part of Subaru’s Japan Premium Line — a series of models that are Completely Built-Up (CBU) in Japan. The initiative focuses on three pillars: Japanese engineering excellence, immediate access to Subaru’s latest innovations, and higher levels of craftsmanship.
Vehicles under this line are designed to provide Malaysian customers with direct access to the latest technology and specifications available in Japan, including updated powertrains, advanced safety systems, and improved in-car connectivity.

Powering the new Forester is Subaru’s updated 2.5-litre FB25 engine, paired with a new TR58 Lineartronic gearbox, which produce 185 PS and 247 Nm of torque, with a 0-100 km/h time of 9.7 seconds and a top speed of 205 km/h.
The SUV also benefits from Dual Pinion Electric Power Steering, offering quicker and more precise feedback, while its braking system has been tuned for smoother control and better stability during everyday driving.

Built on the improved Subaru Global Platform, the Forester now has a 10% increase in chassis rigidity, achieved through a reinforced inner frame design and greater use of structural adhesives. The result is a more stable and comfortable ride with reduced vibration and body movement.
The brand’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system continues to be a core feature, constantly adjusting power distribution to all four wheels for optimal grip and stability on all surfaces. The Forester’s 220mm ground clearance and dual-function X-MODE with Hill Descent Control provide additional assurance when driving on rough or slippery terrain.

Drivers can also choose between two modes via the Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) system — an “Intelligent” mode for better efficiency or a “Sport” mode for more responsive acceleration.
Inside, the Forester offers a spacious and ergonomically designed cabin. The new seats, developed with input from a Japanese medical institution, are designed to reduce fatigue and improve comfort on long journeys. The driver’s seat features 10-way power adjustment with lumbar support, while the seat rails are mounted directly to the chassis for better rigidity and reduced vibration.

The SUV is equipped with a 11.6-inch Full HD infotainment touchscreen that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a Qi wireless charging pad and multiple USB-A and USB-C ports for front and rear passengers.
Additional conveniences include 60/40 split-folding rear seats, a hands-free power tailgate, and a wide, flat cargo area for easy loading.

Safety has been a longstanding Subaru hallmark, and the new Forester 2.5 continues that tradition with the inclusion of EyeSight 4.0, the latest version of Subaru’s advanced driver-assist system.
It features an expanded field of vision through improved stereo cameras and a new wide-angle monocular camera, enhancing the detection of pedestrians and cyclists.

Key safety systems include:
- Emergency Driving Stop System: brings the vehicle to a safe stop if it detects prolonged driver inactivity.
- Driver Monitoring System: uses facial recognition to detect signs of drowsiness or inattention.
- 360-Degree Multi-View Monitor and Reverse Automatic Braking, which aid in parking and low-speed manoeuvres.

The Forester’s passive safety structure is built around a Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame, supplemented by eight SRS airbags, including a new passenger seat cushion airbag for better protection during frontal collisions.
The all-new Forester also adopts a bolder and more modern design with a larger front grille, C-shaped LED headlights, and muscular wheel arches housing 18-inch alloy wheels. The rear features a sleeker layout with an embossed “FORESTER” insignia and redesigned tail lamps for a contemporary look.

New colour options have been added to the lineup as well, including River Rock Pearl, Cashmere Gold Opal, and Daybreak Blue Pearl, joining Subaru’s existing palette.
