Honda Malaysia has officially opened bookings for the all-new Honda Prelude, bringing back one of the brand’s most iconic nameplates as part of its growing electrified line-up in Malaysia.
Making its return in an entirely new form, the all-new Prelude is set to become the first e:HEV hybrid sports coupe in Honda Malaysia’s history, while also serving as a key highlight of the company’s newly launched Hybrid Done Right campaign.

Although official pricing and full local specifications have yet to be announced, the Malaysian-market Prelude is expected to closely mirror the Japan-spec model, which first went on sale in Japan in September last year.
The revival of the Prelude marks a significant moment for Honda, especially as the nameplate re-enters the market not as a conventional petrol coupe, but as an electrified sports model built around the brand’s latest hybrid technology.

Honda Malaysia has confirmed that the all-new Prelude will be powered by a 2.0-litre e:HEV powertrain producing 184 PS and 315 Nm of torque, giving the coupe a healthy balance of performance and efficiency.
More notably, the Prelude will also debut Honda’s new S+ Shift technology in Malaysia for the first time.
Designed to deliver a more engaging driving experience, the system simulates gear shifts and sharpens the car’s responses by coordinating the engine and dual electric motors more precisely. It is also paired with Active Sound Control, which enhances the sense of acceleration and responsiveness from behind the wheel.

Honda says the setup is intended to deliver sharper throttle response, better control, and a more involving drive, positioning the Prelude as a sportier and more emotional expression of the company’s e:HEV technology.
In terms of design, the all-new Prelude combines sleek coupe proportions with a modern and clean styling approach.
The car measures 4,522 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,355 mm in height, with a 2,605 mm wheelbase, giving it a low and wide stance that fits its sporty positioning.

Exterior highlights confirmed for the Malaysian model include LED headlights, LED rear combination lights, Active Cornering Lights, Flush Door Outer Handles, a Black Chrome Grille, and 19-inch aluminium wheels.
The Prelude’s styling also incorporates subtle blue accents at the lower front and rear sections, hinting at its electrified identity without overdoing the hybrid theme.
While it is clearly designed as a sports coupe, Honda has also engineered the Prelude with a more practical side. Based on the Japan-spec model, the car features a liftback-style rear opening and a cargo area designed to offer better usability than what is typically expected from a two-door coupe.

Inside, the all-new Prelude is expected to carry over much of the Japanese model’s sporty yet premium cabin design.
Among the standout features are a flat-bottom steering wheel, alloy paddle shifters, and Prelude-specific digital meters, all aimed at reinforcing the coupe’s driver-focused character.
The Japan-spec model also features a distinctive two-tone blue and white interior theme, along with differently designed front seats for the driver and passenger — the former offering stronger support for spirited driving, while the latter focuses more on comfort.

Should Honda Malaysia retain these details for the local version, the Prelude could offer one of the more distinctive interiors in its segment.
Beyond the powertrain, the Prelude also appears to bring some serious hardware to back up its sporty image.
Honda has previously revealed that the new model is built on a chassis derived from the Civic Type R, although tuned specifically to deliver a balance between responsive handling and ride comfort.

The Japan-spec Prelude also comes with performance-oriented components such as dual-axis front suspension, adaptive dampers, variable gear ratio steering, and high-capacity Brembo front brakes, all of which suggest that this is far more than just a stylish hybrid coupe.
If these key ingredients are retained for Malaysia, the Prelude could appeal to buyers looking for something more exciting than a conventional hybrid, but more approachable than a full-blown hot hatch.

Safety will also remain a key part of the package, with Honda Malaysia confirming that the all-new Prelude will come equipped with Honda SENSING.
In addition, the car will also feature Blind Spot Information (BSI) and Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM), giving it a modern suite of active safety and driver assistance technologies.
The Prelude’s arrival comes as Honda Malaysia ramps up its hybrid offensive through the Hybrid Done Right campaign, which runs from 1 April to 30 June 2026.

The campaign is aimed at highlighting the strengths of Honda’s e:HEV system, which is already offered in models such as the City, City Hatchback, HR-V, Civic, and CR-V.
As part of the campaign, customers who purchase a Honda e:HEV model will receive an additional RM2,000 cash rebate and free labour service for the first two years.
Honda is also offering customers a chance to experience the all-new Prelude for one week after its official launch through a monthly lucky draw, while existing Honda hybrid owners can participate in the “Hybrid Done Right” Contest by sharing their real-world fuel consumption figures on social media for a chance to win a one-year free service package.

While pricing and full Malaysian specifications are still under wraps for now, the Prelude’s local launch is expected to take place in the within the next couple of months.
More importantly, it signals Honda Malaysia’s intention to position the Prelude as more than just a nostalgic comeback model.

Instead, the all-new Prelude looks set to become a statement piece for Honda’s next chapter in electrified performance — one that blends coupe styling, hybrid efficiency, and a more driver-focused character than what buyers might normally expect from an e:HEV model.
Customers interested in the all-new Honda Prelude can now place their booking via Honda Malaysia’s official pre-booking platform.
