Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso Concept Debuts in Paris, Previews Future Design Direction

Alfa Romeo has unveiled the Cuorerosso concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, offering a glimpse into the Italian marque’s future design direction and approach to electrification.

Described as a design manifesto rather than a preview of a specific production model, the Cuorerosso aims to preserve Alfa Romeo’s defining characteristics of Italian styling, sporting performance and driving pleasure as the industry transitions towards electrification.

The concept also signals the brand’s intention to develop future models across key market segments using flexible, multi-energy architectures. These could accommodate vehicles up to 4.7 metres long, with the potential for high-performance Quadrifoglio variants.

Italian design meets sporting proportions

The Cuorerosso follows Alfa Romeo’s “Bellezza Necessaria” philosophy, which prioritises functional beauty by eliminating unnecessary elements and ensuring every component serves a purpose.

Developed by Alfa Romeo Centro Stile, the concept was shaped as a continuous sculptural form, with flowing surfaces designed to convey movement even when stationary.

Measuring 4,700 mm long, 1,980 mm wide and 1,331 mm tall, the 2+2 coupé has a 2,930 mm wheelbase and a stated weight of 1,750 kg. Its proportions combine the elegance of a grand tourer with the dramatic presence of a supercar.

Aerodynamic efficiency is addressed through its smooth bodywork, truncated rear known as the Coda Tronca, and integrated low diffuser, contributing to a drag coefficient of 0.28.

At the front, the signature Scudetto grille sits within Alfa Romeo’s distinctive Trilobo design, flanked by headlights that give the concept a focused appearance. Backlit triangular elements within the grille reference the brand’s historic Cross and Biscione symbols.

The rear features a Scudetto-shaped window and two circular tail lights, while flush glazing, concealed door handles and roof-mounted touch controls maintain the clean exterior design.

Sporting hardware includes forged wheels inspired by Alfa Romeo’s traditional telephone-style design, air suspension and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. The Quadrifoglio emblem also features, reinforcing the concept’s performance credentials.

A driver-focused digital cockpit

Inside, the Cuorerosso features four individual seats and an enveloping cockpit inspired by the architecture of the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale.

Rather than relying on an abundance of screens, the cabin prioritises essential information and intuitive controls, keeping the driver at the centre of the experience.

Its “Cannocchiale Vivente” instrument display offers two configurations. Immersivo retains a traditional two-element layout, while Concentrato physically combines the two elements into one. As driving engagement increases, the system reduces displayed information to the essentials.

The concept also features electronically controlled steer-by-wire technology and a three-spoke steering wheel designed to maintain a tactile connection between driver and car.

A central “Magma Display” combines a digital touch surface with physical controls, including a rotary dial and drive-mode selector. Three driving experiences — Cruise, Sport and Quadrifoglio — adjust the interaction between the driver and vehicle.

Alfa Romeo says the instrument concept could inform further development of Stellantis’ STLA SmartCockpit digital platform.

Red, performance and new materials

The concept wears a new Liquid Ink Red finish, created using an aluminium base and a transparent coloured layer. The result is a deep metallic effect that changes with the light, appearing vivid red from certain angles and almost black from others.

Red continues into the cabin, alongside Poltrona Frau nubuck, metallic finishes and regenerated leather containing 60% post-industrial waste from premium upholstery production.

The interior also incorporates lightweight monofilament fabric inspired by high-performance sailing technology. Alfa Romeo is further exploring recycled carbon fibre combined with red resins, highlighting the role of material innovation in its future design approach.

Exploring a multi-energy future

The Cuorerosso provides an indication of Alfa Romeo’s intended multi-energy strategy, with future models potentially offering fully electric, plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid and full-hybrid powertrains.

For the concept, the brand outlines a possible high-performance configuration featuring a 2.9-litre V6 full-hybrid engine, Q4 all-wheel drive, a torque converter and a carbon-fibre driveshaft.

However, this remains a proposed configuration, not a confirmed production specification. Alfa Romeo has not announced power output, performance figures or a production timeline for the Cuorerosso.

Alfa Romeo and Maserati CEO Santo Ficili said the concept reflects the brand’s intention to embrace different energy solutions while keeping technology and quality focused on driving pleasure.

Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso

Ultimately, the Cuorerosso is less about previewing one future model than establishing a direction for the Alfa Romeo range: combining electrification and advanced technology with the Italian design, sporting character and driver engagement that define the marque.
