Honda Malaysia has officially opened bookings for the refreshed Honda City, bringing a sportier look and several important equipment upgrades to one of the country’s most popular B-segment sedans.
The facelift first made its global debut in India before arriving in Thailand, and Malaysia is now set to receive its own version. While Honda Malaysia has yet to reveal pricing, variant details and the official launch date, it has confirmed the key upgrades and powertrain options.
Sharper, sportier styling
The biggest visual changes are concentrated at the front. The New City gets redesigned headlights with an integrated lighting signature and, on higher-specification variants, a full-width light bar. A redesigned grille and bumper give the sedan a wider, more aggressive stance, while new air curtains add to the sportier appearance.
At the back, the changes are more subtle, with revised bumper detailing.
The City RS gets its own visual enhancements, including new 16-inch milled alloy wheels finished in Berlina Black and Dark Clear, giving the range-topping variant a more aggressive look.
Bigger screen and a 360-degree camera
Inside, the most significant upgrade is a new 10-inch Display Audio system, which replaces the smaller unit used by the current model.
The new system is complemented by ambient lighting, while the biggest technology upgrade comes in the form of a Multi-View Camera System, giving the City a 360-degree view around the car.
The New City also gains Blind Spot Information with Cross Traffic Monitoring System, giving drivers additional assistance when changing lanes or reversing out of parking spaces.
Honda Malaysia says the e RS will receive these enhanced features, while Blind Spot Information with Cross Traffic Monitoring is offered across the New City range.
Two powertrains continue
There are no major surprises under the bonnet. Honda Malaysia has confirmed that the New City will continue with both petrol and hybrid powertrains.
The 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol engine produces 121 PS and 145 Nm, with drive sent through a CVT. The more interesting option is the 1.5-litre e hybrid, which uses Honda’s two-motor hybrid system and an e-CVT.
Its electric motor produces 109 PS and 253 Nm, providing considerably more torque than the conventional petrol model. The system automatically switches between EV, Hybrid and Engine Drive modes depending on driving conditions.
This makes the e particularly suited to urban driving, where its electric motor can deliver instant response while keeping fuel consumption in check.
Honda SENSING remains standard
Honda Malaysia is also retaining Honda SENSING as standard across the New City range. The suite includes Collision Mitigation Braking System, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist System, Lane Departure Warning, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Auto High Beam, Low Speed Follow and Lead Car Departure Notification.
Combined with the newly added blind-spot and cross-traffic monitoring systems, the facelifted City gets a more comprehensive active safety package.
What about the price?
That’s the big question Honda Malaysia hasn’t answered yet. The company has confirmed that bookings are now open, but Malaysian pricing, full variant specifications and the official launch date have yet to be announced.
Customers who book the New City between 27 August and 30 September 2026 will, however, qualify for a RM3,000 Early Bird Reward, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
Overall, the facelift doesn’t reinvent the Honda City. Instead, Honda has focused on the areas that matter most to today’s buyers – design, technology, safety and electrification.
With a sharper appearance, larger display, 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring and the continued availability of the e hybrid, the New City looks set to remain a strong contender in Malaysia’s increasingly competitive B-segment sedan market.
