MINI Malaysia has introduced the new All-Electric MINI Paul Smith Edition, a limited-run special edition priced at RM222,222 on-the-road without insurance, or RM228,522 with the MINI Service & Repair Inclusive package.

Buyers can also get behind the wheel from RM2,367 per month via BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, based on a 75% loan over five years.

Built on the All-Electric MINI Cooper SE, this latest collaboration between MINI and legendary British designer Paul Smith brings one of the brand’s most recognisable partnerships back into the spotlight, this time in EV form and on a broader production scale.

This is also a nod to the original Mini Paul Smith Edition from 1998, but reworked for a new generation of buyers who want their car to be as much a fashion statement as it is daily transport.

Available in Inspired White and Statement Grey, the Paul Smith Edition adds a more playful and exclusive twist to the already distinctive electric MINI. The exterior gets Nottingham Green detailing on the side mirrors, front grille surround and wheel caps, while the roof is finished in the same shade and paired with the signature Paul Smith Stripe near the rear pillars.

It also rides on 18-inch Slide Spoke alloy wheels finished with dark steel accents, Nottingham Green highlights, and Paul Smith branding. Other touches include a “hello” mirror projection, Anthracite Grey Paul Smith lettering on the tailgate, plus blacked-out MINI exterior trim.

Inside, the theme continues with a cabin that is far from ordinary. The car gets Nightshade Blue JCW Sports seats wrapped in Vescin upholstery, with Shadow Stripe knit detailing and a Paul Smith tag. Across the dashboard is a full-width striped textile trim inspired by Smith’s signature multi-colour aesthetic, though done in a much more subtle way.

There are also several quirky details scattered around the cabin, including “Every day is a new beginning!” written on the door sill, a rabbit motif stitched into the floor mat, and a colourful Paul Smith Signature Stripe band on the steering wheel. The central display also gets three exclusive Paul Smith-designed graphics in Personal Mode.

While this MINI is clearly about design, it is not short on performance either. Power comes from a single electric motor producing 218 hp and 330 Nm of torque, allowing the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds before topping out at 170 km/h. That should be more than enough to keep the MINI’s trademark go-kart feel alive, especially in a compact three-door package like this.

Juice comes from a 54.2-kWh battery, delivering a claimed range of between 387 km and 402 km. DC fast charging is rated at up to 95 kW, which allows a 10 to 80 percent top-up in under 30 minutes.

As with other new MINIs sold here, the Paul Smith Edition also comes with a fairly comprehensive ownership package. This includes MINI Roadside Assistance, MINI ConnectedDrive, MINI Proactive Care, and access to MINI Service Online for booking service appointments.

In terms of aftersales coverage, MINI Malaysia says the car is backed by a 4-year unlimited mileage warranty, 6 years of service coverage for BEVs, and an 8-year high-voltage battery warranty, depending on package selected.

The MINI Paul Smith Edition is not trying to be the most practical EV on the market, nor is it pretending to be the most affordable. What it does offer is something far more niche: a small electric hatch with genuine design pedigree, plenty of personality, and enough exclusivity to stand out in a sea of increasingly same-looking EVs.

For buyers who think regular transport is too boring, this might be one of the coolest electric cars currently on sale in Malaysia.
