KDEB Waste Management Sdn Bhd (KDEBWM), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Selangor state government responsible for domestic waste collection and public cleansing services, has strengthened its operational capability with the deployment of 51 units of the UD Trucks Croner Euro 5 medium-duty truck.
The trucks were supplied by Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE), the sole authorised distributor for UD Trucks in Malaysia. The large-scale procurement was carried out via a single purchase order, with deliveries staggered over several months to accommodate quality control processes and body-building requirements by TCIE’s appointed truck body partner.
The latest handover involved 23 units, which have been deployed for waste collection operations in Sepang. The ceremony took place at the Sepang Municipal Council and was attended by KDEBWM Managing Director Dato’ Haji Ramli Mohd Tahir, Sepang Municipal Council president Dr Hajah Ani Ahmad, and TCIE Chief Operating Officer Loh Thim Choy.

According to Ramli, all 51 trucks are already in active service and are contributing to higher operational efficiency across the company’s fleet.
He noted that the Croner Euro 5 was selected for its strong engine performance, lower emissions output, high uptime, and 19-tonne body capacity, as well as its spacious, crew-focused cabin and dependable aftersales support from TCIE. These attributes are particularly crucial as KDEBWM currently serves 12 municipalities across Selangor, covering residential neighbourhoods, public parks, as well as commercial and industrial zones.
The expanded fleet is also timely, as several newly developed areas now fall under KDEBWM’s waste collection scope, increasing the demand for consistent and efficient services, especially during peak periods.

All chassis units were acquired through an open tender exercise, further underscoring the scale and competitiveness of the procurement.
KDEBWM’s relationship with UD Trucks dates back to 2016, when the company first introduced seven units into its operations. With the latest intake, its UD Trucks fleet has grown to nearly 150 units, reflecting long-term confidence in the brand’s product and support network.
Keiichiro Ochiai, Region Director for Southeast Asia & East Asia at UD Trucks, said the Croner Euro 5 is engineered to enhance productivity while reducing environmental impact, thanks to features that improve uptime, cost efficiency and operational safety.
TCIE’s Loh added that the Croner’s reliability, efficiency and versatility make it well suited for demanding applications such as waste management, and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing comprehensive lifecycle support to KDEBWM as it continues to deliver essential public services across Selangor.
