BMW Group Malaysia has reached a defining milestone in its electrification journey with the introduction of the all-new BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro.
Priced at RM392,300 on the road including extended warranty and service package, the i5 eDrive40 M Sport is the first fully electric BMW to be locally assembled in Malaysia—and the first of its kind for the BMW Group in the Asia-Pacific region.
This landmark move not only reinforces BMW’s leadership in Malaysia’s premium electric vehicle (EV) segment, but also signals the country’s growing role as a regional hub for advanced EV manufacturing.

Positioned as a modern executive sedan, the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro is designed to meet the needs of both professional and private use, blending long-distance electric capability with the refinement and performance expected of a BMW 5 Series.
At the heart of the model is BMW’s fifth-generation eDrive technology, which enables a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 627 km, placing it among the most capable electric sedans in its class.

Visually, the i5 presents a contemporary interpretation of BMW’s executive design language. The front is defined by the illuminated BMW Shadowline Iconic Glow kidney grille, flanked by Adaptive LED headlights with distinctive vertical daytime running light elements.
From the side, the long, flowing silhouette conveys elegance and presence, while the rear is characterised by slim LED taillights finished in Shadowline trim. The M Sport Pro package adds further visual drama with 20-inch M Aerodynamic wheels, M Sport brakes in dark blue metallic, high-gloss Shadowline detailing and a gloss black rear spoiler.

Inside, the cabin reflects BMW’s latest digital and luxury philosophy. The driver-focused BMW Curved Display, combining a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch central touchscreen, is powered by BMW Operating System 8.5, offering QuickSelect functionality and smartphone-like usability.
A key highlight is the BMW Interaction Bar, which integrates ambient lighting with touch-sensitive controls across the dashboard and doors, subtly concealing the air vents while enhancing visual appeal.

Materials and finishes underscore the sedan’s premium positioning. BMW Individual Merino leather upholstery, carbon fibre trim with silver accents, and an anthracite M headliner create a refined yet sporty environment.
Comfort is further enhanced by fully electric sport seats with memory and lumbar support, four-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, roller sunblinds and a panoramic glass roof with an electric shade. Rear passengers benefit from generous legroom and headroom, making the i5 equally suited for chauffeured duties.

Performance is delivered by a rear-mounted electric motor producing 250 kW (340 hp) and 430 Nm of torque, allowing the i5 to accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 6.0 seconds, with a top speed of 193 km/h. Efficiency gains come from silicon carbide inverter technology, advanced thermal management and adaptive recuperation.
Charging capabilities are equally impressive, with up to 22 kW AC charging enabling a full charge in just over four hours, while DC fast charging up to 205 kW allows a 10–80% recharge in approximately 34 minutes.

Standard equipment includes Adaptive Suspension Professional with Integral Active Steering, enhancing agility and stability by enabling rear-wheel steering of up to 2.5 degrees.
A comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems—such as Driving Assistant Professional and Parking Assistant Plus—rounds out the offering, ensuring the BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro sets a new benchmark for locally assembled premium electric sedans in Malaysia.
