OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia has achieved a major milestone with the delivery of its 20,000th vehicle, just 14 months after entering the Malaysian market in July 2024. The achievement highlights the brand’s rapid growth and strong customer confidence, as well as its alignment with Chery Group’s global expansion strategy.
Acting Sales Director of OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia, Clement Yeo, said the milestone reflects the brand’s growing presence both locally and internationally. “Reaching 20,000 registrations in just over a year is a proud moment for us and a testament to the trust Malaysian customers have placed in OMODA | JAECOO. This milestone also forms part of Chery Group’s success in surpassing 5 million export sales globally, including more than 600,000 OMODA | JAECOO vehicles,” he said.
The handover of the 20,000th vehicle—a JAECOO J7 PHEV—was celebrated at the “20,000 and Beyond: A Celebration of Trust” event held at Blossom Glass Mansion, Kuala Lumpur. The new owner, Khirdzir Ali, expressed his satisfaction with the J7 PHEV’s value, efficiency, and comfort, adding that he looks forward to enjoying the vehicle’s practicality and fuel savings with his family.
OMODA | JAECOO’s success is supported by four core models—the JAECOO J7, JAECOO J7 PHEV, OMODA C9, and JAECOO J8—alongside a growing dealer network of nearly 50 outlets, a dedicated parts warehouse, and local assembly operations in Shah Alam. The milestone also secures the brand’s position among Malaysia’s top five automotive marques for the first half of 2025.
The achievement mirrors Chery Group’s global progress, as the company recently became the first Chinese carmaker to export over 5 million vehicles, maintaining its lead in passenger car exports for 22 consecutive years. In July 2025, Chery rose to 233rd on the Fortune Global 500 and 59th on the Fortune China 500 list.
A major contributor to Chery’s growth has been its focus on New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), which made up 40% of its exports in the first half of 2025. Central to this strategy is the OMODA | JAECOO Super Hybrid System (SHS), available in the JAECOO J7 PHEV.
The SHS pairs a 1.5L turbo engine with an electric motor, hybrid transmission, and an 18.3 kWh LFP battery, producing up to 347 PS and 525 Nm of torque. The J7 PHEV offers nearly 100 km of pure electric range and a combined range exceeding 1,200 km, with fuel consumption as low as 4.77L/100 km.
To mark the milestone, OMODA | JAECOO Malaysia is offering a seven-year free service package or RM5,000 rewards for the JAECOO J7 PHEV, alongside other financing promotions for the J7, C9, and other variants.
The event also previewed the upcoming JAECOO J5 and hosted owner engagement activities, including workshops and contests celebrating brand loyalty and community growth.
