Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has introduced the updated S 580 e with EQ Hybrid Technology, now featuring a range of upgrades in design, performance, and comfort. The locally-assembled flagship sedan continues to lead the brand’s portfolio with improvements that align with evolving customer expectations and hybrid technology advancements.
The most significant technical update is the high-voltage battery, which now supports DC fast charging of up to 60 kW. This allows the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 20 minutes, a major improvement in usability for daily and long-distance driving.
Complementing this, the plug-in hybrid system delivers a combined output of 510 hp and 750 Nm of torque, enabling the luxury sedan to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds while maintaining efficiency.
Driving dynamics are further enhanced with rear-axle steering of up to 4.5 degrees, improving agility in tight city streets and stability at higher speeds. Externally, the S-Class now rides on newly styled 20-inch 10-twin-spoke forged wheels, giving the car a sharper and more sophisticated presence.
Inside, the cabin receives subtle refinements, including a black dotted line center console with a crystal-look finish that adds to the visual appeal. Front-seat comfort has been upgraded with climatised seats offering three-stage ventilation and heating, equipped with integrated fans to ensure consistent cooling or warmth tailored to occupant preference.
The updated model also introduces ENERGIZING AIR CONTROL, which continuously monitors air quality in and around the vehicle. Using advanced sensors, it measures nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, and fine particulate matter (PM2.5).
The system automatically switches between fresh air and recirculation when necessary, while an antibacterial interior filter reduces harmful substances and certain viruses, ensuring a healthier cabin environment.
The new S 580 e remains assembled at Mercedes-Benz’s Pekan plant, part of the global production network, and is priced at RM 738,888 (including 10% SST, excluding insurance). The purchase includes an eight-year or 160,000 km high-voltage battery warranty.
