GAC Malaysia has pulled the covers off two of its upcoming models — the locally-assembled GAC EMKOO C-segment SUV and the fully-imported GAC M8 PHEV luxury MPV — as part of its latest showcase at 1 Utama Shopping Centre.
The preview coincided with the appointment of award-winning actor Datuk Remy Ishak as the brand’s newest ambassador, joining radio personality and entrepreneur Jack Lim under the ONE GAC initiative.
The EMKOO will be GAC Malaysia’s second locally-assembled model after the GS3 EMZOOM. Positioned as a bold and futuristic alternative in the C-SUV segment, it features an angular exterior design, a spacious cabin, and class-leading cargo space. Customers can pre-book either the Premium variant, with an estimated starting price from RM120,000, or the Premium Pro from RM130,000.
Both are powered by a 1.5TGDI turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, and are covered by a 5-year/150,000km vehicle warranty plus a 7-year/180,000km engine and powertrain warranty. First customer deliveries are expected by late September 2025, or earlier if production schedules allow.
Also making its Malaysian preview was the GAC M8 PHEV, a flagship MPV aimed at those seeking premium comfort with plug-in hybrid efficiency. Offered in Premium (estimated RM333,000) and Luxury (estimated RM380,000) trims, the M8 PHEV pairs a 2.0-litre turbo engine with a dedicated two-step hybrid transmission, delivering a best-in-class combined range of up to 1,038km. The MPV includes a 5-year/150,000km vehicle warranty and an 8-year/150,000km battery warranty.
The event’s spotlight on these two models was complemented by the announcement of Datuk Remy Ishak’s appointment as GAC Malaysia’s second brand ambassador. Known for his breakout role in the TV drama Nurkasih and his broad appeal across Malaysia, Remy will work alongside Jack Lim to represent the brand’s design-forward, customer-focused ethos. Both ambassadors will be among the first in the country to take delivery of the EMKOO.
