All-New BMW M5 Now Available in Malaysia for RM1.2 million

BMW M5

BMW has officially unveiled the all-new M5 with a bold new design, an electrified powertrain, and a tech-rich interior. The car was launched at the recent My BMW World event last week.

On the exterior, the new M5 has a lower, wider stance with aggressive lines that showcase its athletic purpose. Sculpted surfaces, flared wheel arches, and signature M detailing give it a powerful presence on the road. The front end is dominated by large air intakes and a high-gloss black kidney grille with BMW’s Iconic Glow lighting, framed by sharp Adaptive LED headlights.

Around the side, black window trims and exclusive M badges hint at its performance pedigree. The rear is equally dramatic, featuring a sleek lip spoiler, vertical reflectors, a sporty rear diffuser, and signature quad exhaust tips.

The car sits on staggered 20-inch front and 21-inch rear M alloy wheels in Midnight Grey, and can be further enhanced with the optional M Carbon Exterior Package for an even more striking appearance.

Inside, the M5 combines motorsport-inspired design with everyday luxury. The cockpit is centred around a curved display — a 12.3-inch digital cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen — both running BMW’s Live Cockpit Professional with M-specific graphics. A newly redesigned M steering wheel with red accents and tactile paddle shifters puts performance controls right at your fingertips.

Drivers can customise drive modes, hybrid settings, and suspension feel using the M1 and M2 buttons. A red Start/Stop button adds drama to every ignition. The cabin features two-tone Merino leather, carbon fibre trim, M seat belts, and an Alcantara headliner, all designed to deliver premium comfort with a sporty edge. M multifunction seats offer full electric adjustment, heating, lumbar support, and memory settings.

Passengers aren’t left out either — the spacious rear cabin offers ample legroom, climate control, and easy access to the 466-litre boot, thanks to the clever packaging of the hybrid battery. A premium 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system completes the in-cabin experience.

Under the hood, the new M5 introduces a hybrid powertrain — the first ever for the model. A 4.4-litre V8 twin-turbo engine pairs with an electric motor to produce a jaw-dropping 727 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. This enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds, and 0 to 200 km/h in just under 11 seconds.

Thanks to BMW’s Boost Control feature, drivers get instant torque when they pull the left paddle in Track mode — making mid-range acceleration even more explosive. Whether using pure electric power or combining both systems, the M5 delivers an exhilarating and flexible driving experience.

The car can also operate in pure electric mode for up to 69 km (WLTP), thanks to an 18.6 kWh battery neatly integrated into the chassis. Charging is quick and convenient, with AC charging up to 11 kW — fully recharging the battery in just over 3 hours.

Built on the new 5 Series platform, the M5’s suspension has been specially engineered for M-level performance. Adaptive M dampers let drivers choose from Comfort, Sport, or Sport Plus modes, while Integral Active Steering (rear-wheel steering) is now standard, making tight turns easier and high-speed cruising more stable.

The M xDrive all-wheel drive system offers multiple drive modes, including 4WD, 4WD Sport, and even a pure rear-wheel-drive setting for purists. Every component, from the brakes to the steering and even energy recuperation settings, can be customised to suit driver preferences.

The M5 is also packed with the latest BMW driver assistance systems, including lane-keeping, adaptive cruise control, parking assistance, and 3D surround view. These features make highway driving and tight urban parking less stressful.

The latest BMW Operating System 8.5 powers all the digital functions, including an enhanced Head-Up Display, Augmented View navigation, and voice-activated controls via the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.

BMW offers a wide range of exterior colours for the M5, including Alpine White, Sophisto Grey, Fire Red, Marina Bay Blue, Isle of Man Green, and more — each accentuating the car’s sculpted lines. Inside, customers can pick from four Merino leather colours – classic Black, Silverstone, Red, or bold Kyalami Orange.
