Kawasaki has introduced the 2027 Versys 900, a new sport-touring motorcycle powered by a 948cc inline-four engine derived from the Kawasaki Z900, combining the performance of the Japanese manufacturer’s supernaked with the versatility and long-distance comfort expected of the Versys family.
Producing 122 PS and 97.3 Nm of torque, the new Versys 900 also features an all-new trellis frame, long-travel suspension, a suite of advanced rider assistance systems and updated touring equipment. Kawasaki describes it as the sportiest Versys yet.

Z900-Based 948cc Inline-Four Engine
At the heart of the Versys 900 is a liquid-cooled, 948cc inline-four engine based on the powerplant used in the Kawasaki Z900 and Z900 SE.
The engine produces 122 PS (89.6 kW) at 9,500 rpm and 97.3 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. Kawasaki has adapted the engine’s intake and exhaust systems for the Versys’ multi-purpose role, aiming to deliver smooth, controllable power at low and medium engine speeds while retaining the strong top-end performance associated with a four-cylinder engine.

This setup is intended to make the motorcycle equally suited to urban riding, winding roads and longer highway journeys, bringing the Z900’s engine character into a more touring-focused package.
All-New Chassis for Sportier Handling
The 2027 Versys 900 receives an all-new trellis frame designed to balance rigidity with front-end feel. Its rear frame is engineered to accommodate a passenger and touring luggage, including side panniers and a top case.
A near-50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution is intended to contribute to agile handling, complemented by the Versys family’s signature long-travel suspension and 17-inch wheels.

The wheels are fitted with Metzeler ROADTEC 01 tyres, reinforcing the motorcycle’s road-oriented sport-touring focus.
Rider ergonomics have also been considered for longer journeys. The Versys 900 features an upright riding position, a windscreen adjustable across seven positions and a seat height adjustable between 825mm and 845mm. Its fuel tank is shaped to provide a secure knee grip while helping riders reach the ground more easily.
First Versys with Advanced Rider Assistance Systems
One of the most significant upgrades is the introduction of Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS), making the Versys 900 the first motorcycle in the Versys family to receive this technology.
The system includes Adaptive Cruise Control Lite (ACC Lite), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD). An Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) is also fitted to help alert following traffic during sudden braking.

Other standard electronic equipment includes Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF), Kawasaki TRaction Control (KTRC), enhanced ABS, selectable power modes, integrated riding modes and the Kawasaki Quick Shifter (KQS).
Together, these features are designed to improve rider confidence and control across different riding conditions without taking away from the motorcycle’s sporting character.
5-Inch TFT Display with Smartphone Connectivity
The Versys 900 features a 5-inch full-colour TFT instrument display with turn-by-turn navigation support and smartphone connectivity through Kawasaki’s RIDEOLOGY THE APP MOTORCYCLE application.
Riders can choose between two display layouts. Type 1 places greater emphasis on engine-related information, while Type 2 prioritises navigation visibility and vehicle data.

The system is designed to make essential information easier to access, particularly during longer journeys where navigation and riding information are important.
Touring Luggage and Versys 900 SE
Kawasaki’s new Aero Edge styling concept gives the Versys 900 a more dynamic appearance, with bodywork designed to create a sense of lightness and airflow.
For touring, a dedicated luggage system is available, comprising a 47-litre top case and two 32-litre panniers. The accessories are designed to integrate with the motorcycle’s styling, maintaining its sporty appearance even when fully equipped for longer trips.
Kawasaki dealers will also offer Tourer and Grand Tourer editions equipped with genuine accessories. A 70kW version will be available alongside the standard model and the Versys 900 SE.

The SE variant adds Kawasaki genuine accessories, including compact LED fog lamps, hand guards, heated grips, a radiator screen, frame protection sliders, a lower cowl and a centre stand.
Colours and Malaysian Availability
The 2027 Kawasaki Versys 900 will be offered in Metallic Spark Black and Pearl Robotic White.
The Versys 900 SE gets two colour combinations: Plasma Lime Green / Metallic Spark Black and Firecracker Red / Metallic Carbon Gray.
Kawasaki has not announced Malaysian pricing or local availability in the information released.
With its Z900-based inline-four engine, redesigned chassis and expanded rider assistance technology, the 2027 Versys 900 takes the Versys formula in a more performance-oriented direction while retaining the practicality, comfort and luggage-carrying capability expected of a sport-touring motorcycle.
