Nissan has given Malaysian drivers a first glimpse of the all-new Serena e-POWER, signalling a bold step forward in the mid-sized MPV segment. Known for its practicality, reliability, and fuel efficiency, the Serena has been a favourite among Malaysian families for decades, and the latest generation promises to elevate the standard even further.

Since its introduction in the 1990s, the Serena has consistently redefined versatility and usability. The C26 Serena S-Hybrid, launched in 2013, was Malaysia’s first hybrid MPV, blending clever interior design with fuel-saving technology. Its successor, the C27 Serena S-Hybrid, introduced advanced active safety features and thoughtful family-oriented conveniences, further cementing its appeal.

The sixth-generation C28 Serena e-POWER now takes the spotlight, powered entirely by a 100% electric motor-driven system. This new powertrain offers smooth, responsive acceleration, refined driving dynamics, and efficiency levels rarely seen in the mid-sized MPV segment.

“The Serena is an important model in our lineup, representing Nissan’s core values of innovation, excitement, and practicality. The All-New Serena e-POWER builds on the C27 S-Hybrid’s strengths with even better performance, refinement, and efficiency, delivering a driving experience families will truly enjoy,” said Khoo Cheng Pah, CEO of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd.

The e-POWER system combines a high-performance electric motor producing 163 PS and 315 Nm, a 1.4-litre three-cylinder internal combustion engine dedicated to generating electricity, and a compact 1.769 kWh lithium-ion battery. The new HR14DDe engine employs direct injection and Mirror Bore Coating technology to reduce friction, vibration, and noise, ensuring smooth, quiet operation while recharging the battery.

Because the Serena e-POWER is driven solely by its electric motor, it delivers the instant torque and seamless acceleration associated with electric vehicles—but without the need for external charging. The battery is continuously replenished by the onboard generator, eliminating range anxiety while maintaining fuel efficiency.

“Nissan e-POWER allows the Serena to offer a unique combination of performance, comfort, and efficiency in a family MPV. Following the success of the Kicks e-POWER, we are confident the All-New Serena e-POWER will set a new benchmark in Malaysia’s MPV segment,” added Khoo.

The preview of the All-New Serena e-POWER highlights Nissan’s commitment to innovation, offering Malaysian families a more refined, efficient, and exciting MPV experience than ever before.
