Zeekr recently reached a major milestone in Malaysia after the Zeekr 009 Ultra Luxury was named Overall Malaysia Car of the Year 2025 at the Malaysia Car of the Year (MCOTY) Awards.
The flagship luxury MPV also secured Best xEV of the Year and MPV xEV of the Year, while the Zeekr 7X AWD Performance claimed SUV of the Year in the RM200,000 to RM500,000 category.
The multiple wins underscore Zeekr’s rapid rise as a premium electric vehicle brand in Malaysia, following a strong 2025 that saw 2,560 vehicles delivered nationwide, based on JPJ registration data.
Recognised as one of the country’s most respected automotive award programmes, MCOTY is judged by an independent panel comprising professional drivers, automotive journalists, and industry experts. Vehicles are assessed across eight key areas: design, safety, ergonomics, value, practicality, performance, energy efficiency, and warranty coverage—making an Overall win a significant industry endorsement.
The Zeekr 009 Ultra Luxury impressed judges with its bold design, advanced safety systems, cutting-edge technology, and its ability to blend high-end comfort with sustainable mobility. Its success reflects growing demand among Malaysian buyers for electric vehicles that deliver both innovation and refinement.
A Defining Moment for Zeekr in Malaysia
The MCOTY triumph caps a year of strong momentum for Zeekr Malaysia. In December 2025, the brand celebrated its 2,000th vehicle delivery, before closing the year with 2,560 units delivered—a clear signal of increasing consumer confidence in the brand’s premium EV offerings.

While the 009 anchors Zeekr’s position in the luxury MPV space, the Zeekr 7X has been instrumental in driving the brand’s growth. As Zeekr Malaysia’s flagship performance-oriented SUV, the 7X blends advanced technology, comprehensive safety features, and engaging on-road dynamics. It emerged as the brand’s best-selling model in 2025, accounting for around 70% of total sales, with the 009 complementing its success at the premium end of the market.
A Win That Reflects the Industry’s EV Shift
Now in its third decade, MCOTY continues to mirror the evolving direction of Malaysia’s automotive landscape. The increasing number of electric vehicles among top winners highlights the industry’s transition toward smarter and more sustainable mobility solutions. This trend was further reinforced by record battery-electric vehicle registrations toward the end of 2025.
Established in 2002 by a collective of automotive journalists, the awards were rebranded as Malaysia Car of the Year in 2023 and remain the longest-running automotive awards programme in the country. MCOTY is organised in collaboration with the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii) under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI).
