UD Trucks, in partnership with its sole Malaysian distributor Tan Chong Industrial Equipment Sdn Bhd (TCIE), has officially launched the New Kuzer SKE 155, a light-duty truck built to support the growing needs of businesses in Southeast Asia.

Designed with enhanced features, this latest model promises greater efficiency, higher payloads, and improved safety – making it an ideal choice for today’s fast-moving logistics sector.

Speaking at the launch, Ochiai Keiichiro, Region Director for Southeast and East Asia at UD Trucks, highlighted the strategic importance of the New Kuzer to the region.

“This truck reflects our strong commitment to the logistics industry,” he said. “It was specifically developed with Southeast Asian markets in mind, especially Malaysia, where the e-commerce boom is driving demand for reliable light-duty commercial vehicles. We believe the New Kuzer is well-positioned to support and grow with this market.”

The New Kuzer SKE 155 is powered by a fuel-efficient 5.2-litre Euro IV engine, paired with a six-speed overdrive gearbox. This powertrain delivers robust torque and is engineered to optimize fuel usage while reducing environmental impact – perfect for cost-conscious fleet operators.

Thanks to its refined gear ratios using advanced Japanese technology, the truck runs at lower RPMs at higher speeds, contributing to better fuel economy and longer engine life. It also boasts a reduced curb weight and improved payload capacity, offering up to 4,880kg on the 7.5-tonne variant — over 600kg more than the previous model. Customers can choose between 7.5-ton and 8.5-ton Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) options based on operational needs.

The rear axle has also been strengthened to handle heavier loads and tougher conditions, adding to the truck’s versatility.

UD Trucks has made safety a priority in the New Kuzer. The vehicle is equipped with key features such as SRS airbags, Anti-Slip Regulator (ASR), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) for greater on-road confidence.

The cab is ECE R29-certified for occupant protection and has been designed for comfort and usability. A sleeker, more aerodynamic profile improves both fuel efficiency and maneuverability in narrow urban streets.

Inside, drivers will benefit from a more ergonomic workspace that includes:

  • LED headlamps for better visibility
  • Multiple USB ports and smart storage options
  • A clear and modern instrument panel
  • Easy cabin access with wider doors, grab handles, and lower steps

TCIE’s Chief Operating Officer, Loh Thim Choy, emphasized that the New Kuzer is backed by a nationwide network of 28 dealerships and service centers, ensuring prompt support and easy access to maintenance.

“Our goal is to help customers get the most out of every kilometre,” said Loh. “With our dedicated aftersales support and genuine parts, we are committed to maximizing uptime and reducing the total cost of ownership.”

Customers will also benefit from UD Extra Mile Services, including:

  • UD Genuine Parts with a 1-year warranty
  • UD Trust fixed-price maintenance packages
  • Priority servicing for fleet operators
  • 24/7 roadside assistance
  • UD Genuine Service for long-term reliability

To further enhance value, the New Kuzer comes with a 5-year or 300,000km warranty, offering peace of mind to business owners and fleet managers alike.
