Naza Group to Revive Suzuki in Malaysia

Suzuki reborn with naza

2016 was certainly a year to forget for Suzuki fans in Malaysia as it was the year the brand ceased operations once it part ways with DRB-Hicom. However, after four years of absence, looks like the brand is all set to make a comeback once again.

Who is the new owner?

So, in case you’re wondering who is going to represent Suzuki after this, sources have reported that Naza Automotive Group will be the one who will be reviving the Suzuki brand in Malaysia yet again, and word on the street is that the brand could be re-launched as soon as next month.

Return of the Jimny

It is said that the first model to be unveiled under the new Suzuki ownership will be the fourth-generation Jimny, which is expected to be unveiled during the announcement of Suzuki’s rebirth in Malaysia in just a few weeks. Currently available only as a grey import, the Jimny will soon be available officially under Suzuki with proper after sales services, but the pricing is still expected to be more than RM150,000.

While the base Jimny is powered by an R06A 660 cc, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine, the wider Jimny Sierra has a newly developed K15B 1.5 L four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 101 hp and 138 Nm of torque. Whether both will be offered here remains unknown, so keep your fingers crossed.

The New Swift Sport

Another model that is expected to be launched alongside the Jimny is none other than the new Swift Sport which was first shown to the world in 2017. It was face-lifted just months ago and since the Suzuki vehicles to be sold in Malaysia will come from Japan and not India, we expect the model to come with an enhanced 1.2-litre engine and also as a hybrid.

In addition to its stylish exterior design in a compact size of just 3,845mm long, this latest Suzuki Swift features excellent visibility, a spacious cabin and ample luggage space.

Standard equipment should include air conditioning, rear view camera, Radar Brake Support with Adaptive Cruise Control, smartphone link for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather steering wheel, LED Headlamps, LED rear combination lamps, polished 16-inch alloy wheels and front electric windows. The selling price is estimated at RM135,888.00 (subject to confirmation).

That being said, the two models mentioned above are the only ones that are expected to arrive next month. Meanwhile, no details have emerged on whether models like the updated Ertiga will be launched, so watch this space for more updates on Suzuki’s revival in Malaysia.
