GWM Malaysia has unveiled the GWM Tank 500 HEV Black Edition, an exclusive new variant of the brand’s flagship luxury SUV. Priced at RM336,800, the Black Edition carries a modest RM8,000 premium over the standard Tank 500 HEV, introducing a darker, more assertive expression of the model’s already premium and rugged identity.
The Black Edition builds on the Tank 500’s established strengths, which include refined comfort, intelligent hybrid capability, and serious off-road readiness. Its key distinction lies in a comprehensive suite of blacked-out styling upgrades, transforming its presence from upscale to unmistakably bold.
The Black Edition introduces a cohesive and stealthy visual package. Key elements include:

- Black front grille and bumper garnish
- Black fog lamp garnish

The Tank 500 Black Edition continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged hybrid powertrain, producing a combined output of 346 PS and 648 Nm of torque. This setup delivers smooth acceleration, high torque availability at low speeds, and confident performance whether cruising on the highway or navigating rougher terrain.
Despite its size and capability, the hybrid system helps maintain respectable efficiency. Estimated fuel consumption stands at around 8.5 to 9.0 litres per 100 km, depending on driving conditions.
