In addition to the Tiggo 7 PHEV, Chery Malaysia has introduced the Tiggo 8 PHEV, a flagship plug-in hybrid SUV that combines electrified performance with premium comfort and advanced technology.
Larger and more upscale than its Tiggo 7 sibling, the Tiggo 8 PHEV, which is priced at RM159,800 is positioned for families and buyers seeking a more luxurious hybrid driving experience.
Like the Tiggo 7 PHEV, the Tiggo 8 PHEV is powered by the Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) platform, which integrates a 1.5L turbocharged direct injection engine, dual electric motors, and an 18.3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery.
The system produces a combined 275 PS and 365 Nm of torque, offering responsive performance with efficiency. A driving range of up to 1,200 kilometres per full tank and charge is achievable, with a pure electric range of up to 90 kilometres.
Charging options are designed for convenience. The battery can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in 19 minutes using 40 kW DC fast charging, or in about three hours with a 6.6 kW AC charger. A standard household socket achieves a full charge overnight. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality at 3.3 kW also allows the Tiggo 8 PHEV to serve as an external power source.
The SUV’s design highlights a premium aesthetic. A large front grille, redesigned bumper, and sleek LED lighting give it a modern stance. At the rear, a full-width LED taillight adds distinction, while flush door handles create a clean profile. An illuminated logo on the front grille, exclusive to the Tiggo 8 PHEV, reinforces its flagship status.
Inside, the Tiggo 8 PHEV features a 15.6-inch infotainment display powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8155 chipset, complemented by a premium cabin layout. A SONY 10-speaker audio system and dual-zone climate control enhance comfort, while 64-colour ambient lighting adds a customisable atmosphere. Seating is upholstered in premium synthetic leather, with powered adjustments for both driver and passenger.
The SUV is also equipped with extensive safety and assistance systems. The ADAS 2.0 suite covers adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, and autonomous emergency braking. The Tiggo 8 PHEV also adds advanced features such as intelligent avoidance systems and fatigue detection, ensuring comprehensive driver support.
Battery safety is handled by Chery’s Guardian Battery Safety System, which provides high-voltage cut-off in emergencies, IP68 dust and water resistance, and operational reliability in temperatures from -35°C to 60°C. With a wading depth of 500 mm, the Tiggo 8 PHEV is designed to withstand Malaysia’s weather and road conditions.
Practical features include functional roof rails, a generous 60-litre fuel tank, and newly designed alloy wheels. Double-glazed glass ensures a quiet cabin environment, while high-performance LED headlights with cornering functions improve night driving safety.
Warranty coverage mirrors that of the Tiggo 7 PHEV, with seven years or 150,000 kilometres for the vehicle, and eight years or 160,000 kilometres for the hybrid system. Customers also benefit from five years of free labour service and a one-to-one battery replacement if battery health drops below 70 percent during the warranty.
