BYD Sime Motors, the authorised distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia, marks its third anniversary as the country’s top-selling electric vehicle brand. More than 25,000 BYD cars are now on Malaysian roads, reflecting not only strong market acceptance but also a growing community of households contributing to cleaner mobility nationwide.
Together, BYD owners help cut over 62,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year. This reduction is comparable to planting approximately 2.5 million trees annually—a volume large enough to encircle Malaysia’s coastline more than six times—demonstrating the substantial environmental benefits generated by the brand’s expanding EV footprint.

To date, BYD Sime Motors offers the widest range of fully electric vehicles in Malaysia, with seven models introduced since its debut. The BYD ATTO 3 continues to lead as a top performer in the C-segment SUV category. In 2025, the lineup expanded with the arrival of the BYD ATTO 2, BYD SEAL 6, and an updated BYD SEAL.
Covering everything from entry-level options to premium offerings—across sedans, SUVs, and MPVs—the portfolio reflects BYD’s focus on advanced engineering, strong safety credentials, and attainable electrification.
Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, stated, “Reaching more than 25,000 customers is a milestone that reflects the accelerating shift toward EV adoption in Malaysia. We are grateful for the trust placed in our brand and remain committed to delivering cleaner, smarter and safer mobility solutions. We look forward to introducing even more innovative products to Malaysian drivers.”
Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director for Southeast Asia at Sime Motors, commented, “In only three years, BYD has become an integral part of Sime Motors’ automotive business. Our extensive sales and service network, advanced facilities, and specialist EV workforce have enabled us to make electric mobility both accessible and practical. We appreciate the confidence shown by our customers and will continue prioritising an exceptional ownership experience.”

BYD Sime Motors’ nationwide infrastructure continues to support its expanding customer base. The network currently comprises 39 sales outlets, 24 aftersales service centres, 12 authorised body and paint facilities, and a central parts warehouse carrying more than 4,600 line items with a 94 percent fulfilment rate to ensure rapid turnaround times. Over 1,000 local staff have been trained at BYD’s dedicated Training Centre to uphold high technical and service standards.
Looking ahead, BYD and Sime Motors reaffirm their long-term commitment to advancing Malaysia’s EV landscape. Plans for 2026 include continued network growth, deeper technology integration, and the establishment of local assembly (CKD) operations aimed at supporting sustainable development and job creation.
With full tax exemptions on fully imported EVs set to expire soon, this is an ideal time for customers to consider making the switch to electric. Visitors to BYD showrooms nationwide can take advantage of year-end promotions offering savings of up to RM20,000 on selected models. It is a timely opportunity to experience Malaysia’s leading EV brand.
