GGR Motor has expanded its electric motorcycle network in Johor with the opening of GGR Motor X Ajak in Taman Nusa Bestari, Iskandar Puteri, as the company looks to build on sales of more than 10,000 units of its LION G1 electric motorcycle.
The new outlet, located at No. 21, Jalan Bestari 1/5, Taman Nusa Bestari, is headed by local entertainer Mohamad Hanaffi Razak, better known as Ajak Shiro, who serves as its branch director.
The launch was officiated by Kota Iskandar assemblyman Datuk Haji Pandak Ahmad, representing the Johor Menteri Besar. GGR said the new outlet forms part of its wider effort to make its electric motorcycles more accessible to consumers while expanding its nationwide dealer network.
According to GGR Group managing director Muhammad Musaddiq Mohamed Azmi, the company has sold more than 10,000 units of the LION G1 in just nine months since the model was introduced.
GGR currently has 19 dealers nationwide, with the company targeting between 20,000 and 30,000 LION G1 units in total sales.
It also plans to accelerate its retail expansion, with a target of opening 50 new outlets nationwide by the end of 2026. GGR identified Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak as key areas for expansion, while also targeting locations such as Shah Alam and Langkawi.
The company said after-sales support will be an important consideration when selecting new locations, rather than simply increasing the number of sales outlets. GGR is also targeting a further 50 to 100 new outlets next year as it continues to build its electric motorcycle network.
The company is using collaborations with local celebrities, including Ajak Shiro, Johan and Farid Kamil, as part of its strategy to introduce its electric motorcycles to a wider audience.
For Ajak, the new outlet provides an opportunity to introduce electric mobility to consumers in Iskandar Puteri and surrounding areas, while allowing potential buyers to see the LION G1 and learn more about its operation before making a purchase.
The LION G1 is powered by a 3,000-watt hub motor producing 140Nm of torque, paired with a 72V 32Ah battery. It has a claimed top speed of 70km/h. Pricing starts at RM4,454 on the road in Peninsular Malaysia, including road tax and insurance, while the Sabah and Sarawak price is RM5,954, also including road tax and insurance.
GGR says the LION G1 is aimed at consumers looking for an affordable form of electric mobility, with lower running and maintenance costs compared with conventional petrol-powered motorcycles.
The GGR Motor X Ajak launch also featured a showroom tour, media session, performances and a gathering with the Johor EV community. Visitors who purchased exclusive GGR Motor X Ajak merchandise were also eligible for a lucky draw, with a LION G1 among the prizes.
