Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia has previewed the new Golf R-Line and officially launched the latest Golf GTI, marking the next chapter of the iconic hatchback in the country.
The new Golf GTI is priced from RM255,990 with the Volkswagen Assurance Package (VAP), while early buyers can enjoy a special introductory price of RM249,990 for the first 50 units registered by 31 December 2025. The Golf R-Line is currently available for preview ahead of its showroom arrival.
Built locally at the Pekan plant, both models feature redesigned aerodynamics, a modernised front fascia, and refined lighting elements. Notably, the front Volkswagen logo is now illuminated – a first for Volkswagen models in Malaysia. Updated IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights and 3D LED taillights with animated indicators further enhance road presence and visibility.
Inside, the latest Golf models adopt a fully digital, driver-focused layout. A new 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen powered by Volkswagen’s latest MIB4 system offers faster response and improved navigation functions, complemented by a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display with multiple view modes.
Convenience features include voice control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, a heated multifunction steering wheel with physical buttons, and a 3-zone Air Care Climatronic climate control system.
Both variants are also equipped with Volkswagen’s IQ.DRIVE safety suite, which includes Front Assist with pedestrian monitoring, Travel Assist with Adaptive Cruise Control, Rear Traffic Alert, Exit Warning, Driver Attention Detection, and Emergency and Lane Assist functions.
Golf R-Line
The new Golf R-Line brings sportier styling inspired by Volkswagen’s high-performance R models. The cabin receives unique R-Line upholstery, carbon-style trim, stainless steel pedals, and a leather-wrapped sports steering wheel.
Power comes from a 1.5-litre eTSI mild-hybrid turbo engine producing 150 PS and 250 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DSG transmission. It achieves 0–100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and delivers an efficient 5.2L/100km fuel consumption rating. The model rides on 17-inch ‘Coventry’ alloy wheels.
Golf GTI
The latest Golf GTI continues its hot-hatch legacy with sharper styling and upgraded performance. It features GTI signature cues, including honeycomb front air intakes, red exterior accents, and sports seats upholstered in Vienna leather.
Under the hood, the 2.0-litre TSI turbo engine now produces 265 PS – a 20 PS increase from before – paired with a 7-speed DSG for quick and responsive shifts.
The GTI is equipped with a premium Harman Kardon audio system featuring nine speakers and a subwoofer, powered by a 12-channel digital amplifier for immersive sound.
A Head-Up Display also comes standard, projecting driving and navigation details onto the windscreen. The GTI rides on 18-inch ‘Richmond’ alloy wheels for a more athletic stance.
Colours and Warranty
Both the Golf R-Line and Golf GTI are available in Oryx White, Moonstone Grey, Grenadilla Black, Kings Red, and Anemone Blue. The Golf GTI comes with the Volkswagen Assurance Package, which includes:
- 5 years free maintenance
- 5 years unlimited mileage warranty
- 5 years roadside assistance
