The KL Car-Free Morning Programme, held at Dataran DBKL, witnessed a remarkable turnout of 2,000 participants engaging in a 7km stretch of closed-road morning run, coinciding with World Earth Day.

Amidst the vibrant atmosphere of community engagement, smart proudly stood as a key supporter of this initiative, showcasing the smart #1 and 3, styled by Mercedes-Benz and built on Geely’s Sustainable Electric Architecture (SEA). This demonstration underscored its commitment to promoting sustainable urban living.

As the first EV car brand to support this initiative, smart pioneers innovative solutions that directly contribute to the promotion of sustainable urban living. By transforming congested streets into lively, car-free zones, both partners invite communities to reimagine their daily commutes and embrace healthier lifestyles. This initiative not only benefits locals but also resonates with expats or tourists seeking sustainable travel options.

“In alignment with smart’s Global Sustainability Strategy, our partnership with DBKL represents a significant step forward in promoting collaborative sustainable development for both the environment and society.

By showcasing smart #1 and #3, we aim to raise awareness for eco-friendly transportation alternatives and emphasize the importance of reducing carbon emissions and protecting the environment. Additionally, our plant giveaway adds a delightful touch to our efforts in spreading this awareness,” stated Zhang Qiang, Chief Executive Officer at smart Malaysia.

As part of this commitment, smart provided plants for adoption to the runners, symbolizing a significant step towards greener, healthier, more sustainable lifestyles. This gesture not only underscores smart’s dedication to promoting green initiatives but also fosters a deeper connection
between individuals and their environment, promoting overall well-being and vitality.

Moreover, this initiative serves as a solution to achieving a greener, carbon-free city by 2030 by shifting mindsets towards owning all-electric vehicles.

The success of the KL Car-Free Morning Programme underscores the collective effort to reshape urban mobility and promote sustainable practices.
