Honda has finally revealed the highly anticipated 2022 Honda Civic Si, which is based on the all-new 11th-generation Civic Sedan.

On the exterior, setting the Civic Si apart from the regular Civic are features like the more aggressive bumper design, a redesigned rear bumper, the dual oval exhaust tips, a front spoiler, a gloss black rear spoiler, gloss black trim on the mirrors and window surrounds, and 18-inch 10-spoke matte black wheels.

Also exclusive to the Civic Si is the Blazing Orange Pearl paint.

Inside, new Si-specific sport seats with embroidered Si logos and red contrast stitching are standard. This also is the first Civic Si with a large 9-inch HD color touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and a Bose premium sound system.

And then we have the sport pedals and red contrast stitching on the doors, steering wheel, center arm rest, shift boot and shift knob. The Si-specific red trim also dresses the Civic’s signature metal honeycomb dash panel.

The Civic Si also features the same long list of new active and passive safety systems as the rest of the 11th-generation Civic lineup.

Powering the Honda Civic Si is an updated 1.5-litre VTEC Turbo four-cylinder engine producing 200 hp and a maximum torque of 260 Nm.

While the engine’s peak torque now arrives 300 rpm sooner for a quicker punch off the line, top-end performance is also improved as the engine now maintains more output between 6,000 and 6,500 rpm redline.

Paired to the engine is a six-speed manual gearbox with automatic rev-matching just like the Civic Type R.

There is also a new dual-coil silencer exhaust system that increases exhaust flow by 27% compared to Civic Touring.

To complement the engine’s natural exhaust note inside the cabin, Civic Si uses an improved Active Sound Control system that can produce high-quality sound over a wider range of engine rpm.

Further complementing the powertrain package is a new single-mass flywheel that is 26% lighter than the dual-mass unit used in the previous Si, resulting in improved throttle response.

To maximize available traction when accelerating, power is routed to the front wheels through a standard helical limited-slip differential. Besides that, the brakes are also larger than the regular Civic Sedan’s.

To maximize handling and driver enjoyment, spring rates are 8-percent stiffer in front and 54-percent stiffer in the rear compared to Civic Sedan. New dampers also have been tuned specifically for the Si.

In addition to Normal and Sport driving modes, Si’s updated Drive Mode system now features an Individual mode that allows the driver to individually select engine response, steering effort, and instrument panel display colour parameters for a customized driving experience.
